Oh yeah It is kind of daft in places, very typical pulpy 80's manga and like you say it definitely has the feel of italian b-movies and many older anime OVAs in that it borrows a lot from American cinema but in a fun way. Definitely my kind of thing.
Just read Cyber Blue Vol 1. It's a scan as it's not officially available. Really fun and dark 80's sci-fi actioner/revenge thriller with art by Buronson of Fist of the north star fame and written by two guys called Ryuichi Mitsui and BOB (must be a pen name). Feels kind of like a mixture of...
Hi everyone. Selling a few DVDs (and a small number of blu rays), also a few anime related action figures. Everything is in mint condition except for one DVD set (Trigun) - details below. All figures are complete with instructions, all accessories and display stands etc. Many of these figures...
Bit of info for fellow collectors: Not sure if anyone's interested but thought it a good thing to post here just in case I could help anyone out.
If anyone is wanting to pick up the Hellboy (2004) 4K HMV Exclusive Cine Edition I suggest getting it now because I just learned it's deleted as of...
Got a nice mini haul from Rightstuf of Arion, Memories and the Votoms so-called "Complete" collection. Also a nice Patlabor print from an Etsy artist called E.Hanby.
Got one of these today and the other last week but wanted to share them when I had both. The Hokuto No Ken/Fist Of The North Star "Super action statue" (basically very poseable figures) of Kenshiro and Raoh. These are excellent quality and probably the best HNK figures released in Japan to date...
When I share any images usually it's something totally different to everyone else so I guess it felt nice to say "hey me too" for once. Yeah I know what you mean though, I've often thought that as well, I never usually post my stuff when there's already pics of it. I was joining in for a laugh...
Ha Ha! Didn't think of that at all, honest (Insert monkey side-eye meme here). Seriously though the only female anime character figure I have is Tashigi from One Piece and she's dressed very respectably.
Got this rotating display stand for action figures and model kits today from Amazon. It fits brands like Bandai SH Figuarts/Robot Damashii and pretty much any other 5-7 inch figures and probably a few a little bigger than that. It'll work with Mafex, Figma, most Banpresto prize figures...
No probs. They look really nice alongside each other. Tried to take a pic of both together but at this time of night was getting a lot of reflection from lights.
Here's a pic of the Godzilla one. It's by Matt Frank, artist on the IDW Godzilla comics and also on one of the Gamera comics ("The Last Hope") that came bundled with the limited edition Arrow Blu ray release from 2020. He also had some of his art featured in the Godzilla criterion set. If you...
A little tribute to Miura-San arrived in the mail today. This really nice Berserk art print from Etsy. Got a frame for it so going to get it up on the wall of the otaku room soon.
Bit late to the party on this discussion (as always) really need to come on here more often. Imagine ONLY watching the Berserk adaptations 🤢 🤮 I Jest....to each their own.
Just to keep in line with the thread here's some recent pickups.
The man's work had a huge impact on my life. He changed the way I approached my own fiction writing and I think his work is among the best ever produced in the medium. I'm definitely going to have a write a piece on him and his work for Animehead's Retroworld. Even if only to put all of my...
@orgun I need to get round to a rewatch of Wind of Amnesia as well. I remember quite liking it but the last time I watched it was on VHS too!
Speaking of rewatches I think Paranoia Agent might be next on my list since it's fairly short. Blu rays should be within my grasp soon.
So along with @orgun I've been watching Spirit Hero Wataru (for the first time) for Retro Mecha Podcast along with Giant Gorg which I am rewatching simply because it's great. Finished all 45 eps of Wataru and I'm up to episode 15 of Gorg.
Hopefully I can find the time shortly to watch the...
