As far as I know the country code register doesn't exist for region or geo-locking purposes. And while I have no idea what the certification process entails and whether or not it's fully automated or not, but I wouldn't be surprised if accessing the country code register wouldn't raise any...
Consider me interested :)
Honestly I find the whole situation quite puzzling. The most logical explanation seems to be that the US 4k discs don't check the region, but the country code (similar to what Sentai does with their "geo-locking" on BDs). You would assume that Japan required them to do...
What an episode. This arc is indeed very puzzling, the previous episodes all felt pretty straightforward giving little clues (as far as I could see, at least) for me to speculate. I was half-expecting Satoko to already be dead or Satoko having murdered Teppei. Ooishi going on a killing spree was...
I practically only buy Blu-rays, unless DVD is really the only (sane) option for a given show. And even then, I've started becoming a bit reluctant in buying DVDs as it's quite often only a matter of time before a re-release on BD happens (all the while the DVDs sit unwatched on my shelf...
More often than not, I think it makes perfect sense for a comedy focused story to shift to a more serious tone later on. The thing that makes or breaks it, is simply the execution. If you ask me, the change shouldn't be abrupt or jarring. Some developments in earlier episode should already...
I often use piranhas.co. It shows various Amazon sites and both Bookdepository and Wordery. It's far from perfect, as it doesn't account for regional tax differences for foreign Amazon sites and when searching directly on ISBN it won't directly show result for Bookdepository and Wordery, instead...
It really is just 10 episodes at 15min each. What might be good to know is that each episode is effectively only a ~10min story, credits and then a short 2.5min story. If I recall correctly, the 10min one was being broadcast, while the short ones at the end of each episode were available in a...
While I agree with the sentiment that it's unrealistic to expect support for (very) old browsers, it tends to have little to do with security. Most new security measures over the past few years actually have an inverse effect: old site won't work in newer browsers. The things that break "modern"...
On one hand I like the start of a new arc as it is the best way to learn new things, on the other hand the start doesn't seem to have a lot of deviations. Simply not enough for me to start theory crafting just yet. But having an arc that focuses more on Satoko will be helpful as her deaths in...
This has piqued my interest. If I had access to the MovieObject.bdmv and the jar files (in case the disc uses BD-J), I would probably be able to figure out how the disc does it. As tempted as I am to buy it right now, it's quite pricey and I already have the AL one pre-ordered.
Now if someone...
That's a sad development. I always heard that UHD was region free, but never thought about the fact that it could still reference the region or country code registers. Was the region free nature of UHD blu-ray actually ever part of an actual specification or was it simply "how it was done"...
Loved the episode. So much to unpack and try to piece together. The ladder scene wasn't the best IMO, I hated it in the original, but this time around wasn't much better to be honest. That's simply not how physics work. But I must say the art style and character design don't bother me that much...
I enjoyed this episode. In many ways a lot seems to be the same, but the things that differ suggest a lot more is different than we are led to believe.
One thing I don't really like are Rika's glowing eyes. Perhaps there's something more to it, but if it's just for the effect, I'd be...
Nice episode and finally some real structural changes. I find the inaction from Rika quite weird, hopefully she did do something behind the scenes that simply wasn't shown to the viewers (perhaps the cause of the "remodeling" at the clinic?).
I really liked how they managed to keep in the...
The "Bulk Download" option works good enough IMO. Sure, it would be nicer if they'd offer a single download (or even just a single download per tier), but I only have to click once (and keep the tab open).
There is so much to say about this first episode. My main gripe with Studio Deen's adaptation has always been the "animation", so the same story, same VAs and same/similar music, but with better visuals is all I really need.
The new character designs aren't really my cup of tea, but I can see...
All in all just shy of £170 (item itself was 17,000 JPY). Justifying the expense was hard, but it helps that I really like the show and I'm quite fond of the packaging. It's simple, but not too plain (the packaging that is, not the show 😆)
Baja's Studio
An endearing short, which looks the part. The story was quite simple, but executed nicely. Given that it's set in an animation studio, I felt a bit unease at times, but I'm glad I finally had a chance to see it.
