I expect the Chief Marketing Officer leaving AL the month before Christmas has probably played some part in the absolute pathetic display we’ve seen lately.
It's a self fulfilling prophecy to some degree with AL though. With Kakegurui, for example, they announced season 1 over a year before Sentai did in the US, and kept telling us to wait. Sentai then announced season 1, got both it and season 2 out the door before we even got season 1, and AL have...
Such a disappointment. I struggle to get excited about AL for home media anymore. They're the reason I started buying blu-rays properly, and it's depressing to see them resort to just phoning it in all the time after 10 years.
Rent-a-Girlfriend - Love this anime, but there's no point buying an...
I think AL should just put out a deluxe edition of the Suzume soundtrack that matches the Your Name and Weathering With You CEs stylistically and just happens to have an empty slot where one could place the Suzume blu-ray
£45? Can’t trust them not to screw us like Kakegurui again since Sentai have already released season 2. Factor in the lack of dub as well, which will inevitably be on a Sentai re-release, and it’s just not worth it.
I have the JP release, but I will reluctantly buy the Suzume steelbook for the collection, and then inevitably triple dip for the eventual 4K release. I'm not happy about it.
I'll be annoyed if they end up releasing the rest of Food Wars in matching CEs given the "1" on the side, but with later seasons being Crunchyroll and AL having a track record of taking forever to release subsequent seasons of shows they have actually announced they have, I am not risking it.
BBFC is a massive cost difference in itself, but that isn’t all. The reduction in discs from four to three is another saving for some of the titles and the lack of any of the extras from the Animatsu releases such as soundtracks is another factor. And an abundance of second hand copies in the...
There wasn't a single movie in the lineup either. The only AL titles really worth buying anymore are the movies, so it's a real shame. I was hoping Galaxy Express 999 would make an appearance after SLA.
What a disappointment. The entire lineup is a Sentai package deal. Over half have already been BBFCed by Animatsu. And yet I'm sure at least one of these titles will still be delayed due to a "delay in receipt of the masters" despite the discs existing for years. The whole stream felt like an...
