UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

I'd be mighty surprised if SEED ships the HD Broadcast version in the UK for pre-orders and then re-ships the fixed discs. I might be wrong. Depends if its worth stopping production as this point (or when they found out from RS that they were redoing their discs) and ship what they have and then...

UK Anime Distributor Manga Animatsu Discussion Thread

Yeah, its more than just an upscale. They've gone in and completely cleaned up the film with a lot of DNR and increased the colours and made it a lot sharper. You can tell a lot of the difference by looking at the new trailer and an old one. Old trailer for Eng dub - New 4K trailer - I...

Discussing anime adaptations of visual novels

It certainly is what I hear about the majority of visual/sound novels. Even Steins;Gate, an anime often rated one of the best, is often told to not be as good as its VN.

I'd put money on the space one being Planetes. Justin working on NGE as well is very interesting. That definitely adds to the value of the Ultimate Edition.

Everything except Ride Your Wave... and to think I was hoping to save money for the Xmas sale.

Yeah, I've paid for the yearly subscription when the Konasuba pre-order went up, and in 3 weeks have saved £20.00 and haven't watched anything through the service yet as I saw Children of the Whales at SLA and own the rest. If anything comes on there that I want to watch, I think that's the...

Will be getting all 3. After seeing Children of the Sea at SLA, I need other people to see it.

The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

As much as I love having blu-rays (and I just received the Dragon Maid BR today), my personal priority is for streaming anime. I've rewatched Dragon Maid a few times on CR in the past few years, so not having the blu ray has not been a huge loss. For me, and how I watch the majority of my...

The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

I imagine we'd go back to a situation like the fantastic couple of years where Funi and CR worked together to license shows with CR focusing on simulcasting and subbing, while Funi focused on dubbing. I think since they broke up, despite paying for both services now, I watch less anime because...

I guess it just depends how long you want to wait after pre-order. At least if AL know they require 1000 units, they can get that order in before the pre-order goes live and it can be produced. Whereas waiting to get pre-order numbers first may add another 3 months while they wait in the queue.

    Your viewing journal

Promare [rewatch] - Watched the dub for the first time (have seen the sub 3 times already) and still really enjoyed it. Steve Blum voicing Captain Ignis reminded me I need to watch Big O again, and Kray's dub voice was not what I was expecting, but still absolutely love it. If there is a day I...

UK Anime Blu-ray & DVD Bargains

Is it just DVDs they have for anime? I can't find much in their blu ray selections unfortunately.

Yeah, by the time I got through Paypal the Art Book set was all gone. Pretty disappointed by that, but have ordered the other bundle. Can only hope AL see how popular the first bundle was and sell more of the artbook.

Amazon when they were licensing anime, were trying to do simulcasts (even if some shows were slow at getting uploaded). Netflix isn't aiming solely at the english-speaking instant anime crowd, they are subbing and dubbing into at least half a dozen languages usually and these things take time...

Legal Streaming 2020: Q1 Winter Season

Yeah, I meant something in line with the TV airing last week in Japan. Around the time when everyone was looking for more information about what was happening other than the page being updated to say episode 7 was due next week. I'm sure I'm not the only person who resorted to other means to...

Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! ep6

The whole with poor Asakusa having to try and explain cel animation and different layers of artwork that goes into animation to the Art Club made me cringe internally. I was soo surprised at the idea that they wouldn't know how animation is put together but I suppose art club =/= interest in...

    Anime at the cinema

Yeah, Cineworld and Vue have both got listings. Cineworld has different listings for the sub and the dub. The sub is on Wednesday and the dub on Thursday whereas Vue it seems has a mix each night. I've booked the dub at Cineworld Bolton for the moment as I'm off on the Thursday.
