New Forums: Bugs, Feedback, and Questions

Thanks for the clarification @Teapot. I certainly wouldn’t begrudge the site looking for ways to make money; obviously hosting it has costs, so it’s only fair really when we’re all using it for free (I will say that I do genuinely despise video advertising though, so I’d prefer any alternative...

New Forums: Bugs, Feedback, and Questions

So what’s the deal with the new disclaimer with the mile long list of “partners” we can grant access to our data? Is AUKN finally getting ads? Please no video ads. I’d also like to suggest I’d be willing to pay a reasonable subscription fee to avoid them...

    Relationships and Romance

I'm less than convinced that anyone can accurately judge the actions and motivations of someone they've never met or interacted with based on second hand information from someone with very strong feelings for that person who is in an emotionally vulnerable state. I'm not trying to argue that...

    Relationships and Romance

I'll just say it again, I think it's a mistake to presume to know the workings of anybody else's mind or circumstances, especially anyone you don't actually know personally. If the situation was clear to anyone it would be Vash, who actually knows her, not me or you. Full on projection time...

    Relationships and Romance

I wish I could be of more help to you Vash. I am genuinely rooting for you but I think I should try and avoid getting into a position of trying to give advice. I'm happy to be open about my own personal experiences from my side, but I wouldn't really feel comfortable getting into the specifics...

    Relationships and Romance

I think love takes as many forms as there are personalities, personally I don't think there's any particular right way of going about it. People can of course only speak from their own experiences, but I certainly know couples (mainly older ones) who love each other very deeply but spend a lot...

    Relationships and Romance

This sounds depressingly familiar, but kinda from both side of the fence. It's not uncommon for me to drift away from people when I run out of things to talk about with them, if I feel like I have to put on a bit of a facade in order to keep conversation going, or if either of us seem to run out...

The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

Are you allowing twitter embedding? If you’re not I can see how this thread being a big list of hyperlinks might seem a bit meaningless.

    Relationships and Romance

I don’t really want to make Vash overthink this any more than he is already, but I’d say that’s VERY dependent on people’s personalities and attitudes. I had a family member who was in a relationship that sounds very much like yours Neil, they would definitely talk or message every day. And...

Overseas Upcoming Non-UK Anime BD/DVD Artwork

Any UK distro attached to After the Rain yet? I definitely want it and would support a local release over importing, but it seems like it might be a bit niche for UK release.

    Relationships and Romance

Dammit Vash, now you’ve got me invested and I feel horrible, horrible empathy. I’m probably the last person anyone should take relationship advice from but as a “been there, done that, felt awful and stupid and then ghosted someone forever” (a bad habit but one that somehow feels less...

    The General Conversation Area

So Corona finally reaches the North East, my uni has gone on lockdown; no classes for a week and further measures to be decided. I’ve only seen one person around here wearing a mask and he was having the p*ss ripped out of him by his mates, so we’ll see if Teesside is decimated by a shared...

Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! Volume 1 Review

Someone really authored a manga basing the premise off an ancient internet meme? That’s quite fantastic, and while I’m unlikely to purchase it I fully support this for the chuckle it gave me.

    The General Conversation Area

Yeah, this has me pretty confused. As far as I can tell Corona doesn't give people chronic diarrhoea, so I don't know why everybody suddenly feels they need to stock up on hundreds of bog rolls. Unless they think we're about to go on complete zombie apocalypse lock-down where every shop will be...

What Music are you listening to? Discussions Welcome!

Gabriel era Genesis best Genesis. I've ended up with two copies of most of their vinyl albums, one from each of my parents, who were lucky enough to see the Six of the Best concert in '82. I saw Peter Gabriel myself back in '03. The man gives a fantastic performance.

    General anime thoughts/discussion thread.

I think it probably depends what kind of sci-fi you’re most into. There’s harder, drier sci-fi, fantasy with sci-fi trappings and stuff that leans more towards cyberpunk. GitS hits a very nice sweet spot for me personally in all its incarnations - Shirow’s clearly very interested in future...

UK Anime Distributor Manga Animatsu Discussion Thread

****s sake. I somehow missed that completely due to the pic in the tweet being for a completely different show. Well great. Another dropped series. Glad I hadn't got round to buying Season 1! It's probably about to become as worthless as my Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Part 1 Blu-ray did.

    General Politics Thread

I can see the argument, but I fundamentally disagree that this is a good thing. What’s the good of that if it’s all a lie? What’s the positive side of people believing their leaders are good people and supporting them if they aren’t? Yeah, perhaps the people's belief in their leaders and...
