Retro Mecha Podcast - Episode 16 'Macross Retrospective Part 4'

A very, very belated thanks @Professor Irony, at first I thought it was a hoax 🤣, we were interviewed for an hour but they used a tiny bit of what was recorded but it was still an extremely cool thing to have done!

UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Question to Anime Ltd... Anyone care to explain how you managed to give Picturehouse a file of Char's Counterattack where the vidoe and audio weren't synced??? I traveled into London yesterday just to see CCA and I was sooo excited about and yet you managed to make it an incredibly...

Mobile Suit Gundam - Char's Counterattack I saw this at the cinema last night as part of SLA, but unfortunately Anime Ltd gave Picturehouse a file where the sound wasn't synced with the video, like they were at different frame rates and by the end of the film the audio lagged the video by about...

It's been a week of watching mecha anime from some of my favourite directors... Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure - Episodes 9 - 13 [Final] + Special Pleasingly, Dual! has stood the test of time well and I have had a good time watching it again, some of the Evangelion references in the final...

Ambassador Magma - Episodes 7 - 13 [Final] While being generally quote slow paced overall, the pace did pick up in the second half and despite the pacing I still enjoyed the story and I think it holds up quite well. Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure - Episodes 1 - 8 Another one that I've not...

Perfect Blue I took the opportunity to see this at the cinema on Friday evening, I love this film, one of the few I give 10/10, and it was great seeing it on the big screen as intended. Ambassador Magma - Episodes 2 - 6 I have to admit I don't remember Ambassador Magma being quite as...

Super Electromagnetic Robot Combattler V - Episodes 46 - 54 [Final] Combattler V remained consistently good right up to the end, it's a real highlight of the Super Robot genre and has stood up very well on re-watch. Urban Square - In Pursuit of Amber On the face of it, Urban Square was a very...

I watched this back in the late 00's and I really enjoyed it (I remember really liking the opening theme to it too) and it's a show I feel need to revisit again now.

Super Electromagnetic Robot Combattler V - Episodes 38 - 45 Apart from some sporadic silliness involving Kinta and Chie, this has been a very good run of episodes, with possibly some of the best of the series so far. Arisa ⭐ Good Luck An magical girl OVA from the final, late 90's, glory days...

Super Electromagnetic Robot Combattler V - Episodes 30 - 37 You can clearly see Brave Raideen's DNA in Combattler V with the way Nagahama builds on the 'human drama' elements from Raideen but also Tomino's comedy touches as well. Kaiju No. 8 - Episode 21 The last few episodes have felt rather...

Super Electromagnetic Robot Combattler V - Episodes 20 - 29 Episodes 26 & 27 were exceptionally good episodes and completed a good run of episodes. Kaiju No. 8 - Episodes 19 & 20 Digital Devil Monogatari: Megami Tensei Yoma A re-watch of these OVAs before being reviewed on the podcast.

A Letter to Momo This was a decent enough film, the first half felt a bit slow and ponderous, possibly deliberately, and made the film feel overlong and the messaging was dished out in a very heavy-handed manner throughout but I thought the final 30 minutes were fantastic and brought the film...

Super Electromagnetic Robot Combattler V - Episode 4 - 12 I'm enjoying this a lot so far. Kaiju No. 8 - Episodes 13 - 17 The first few episodes of this weren't grabbing me at all but I thought episode 15 was a good episode and the show has really picked up from there.

Lazarus - Episodes 11 - 13 [Final] The ending to Lazarus was sing-posted long before it came round, its not so much that Lazarus is bad in the sense of being any way funny bad, it's just so dull and incredibly unimaginative that you wonder just what box ticking exercise was actually going on...

Goodbye, Don Glees! This was a pretty standard coming of age story, one that has been told many times and as a genre film didn't do anything new. Some of the messages the film was trying to get across where done so in a fairly heavy handed way at times as well yet I have to say the film, as a...

Retro Anime Podcast - Episode 39 "80 Years in the Shadow of the 'Bomb'"

None taken. I didn't think you we're calling me out, just not taking any notice of what I had written and telling me stuff that I had stated I already knew that's all. Military history is another big hobby of mine and I have read a lot about the Bataan Death March, walking that route must have...

Retro Anime Podcast - Episode 39 "80 Years in the Shadow of the 'Bomb'"

I did mention the extended cut in my previous post (did you read it?) and I talk about both versions in the intro to the podcast... ... and I've also been to the atomic bomb museum in Hiroshima as well (maybe listen to the podcast)!

Retro Anime Podcast - Episode 39 "80 Years in the Shadow of the 'Bomb'"

I mention In This Corner Of The World in the intro of the podcast and sing it's praises, it's (especially the extended cut) a 10/10 film for me and I agree better than Barefoot Gen but it's too new to fit within the scope and remit of the podcast to review.
