Upcoming UK Anime Blu-ray & DVD Artwork

Presumably because it's a shojo, shojo is for girls (I don't believe this but hey), girls = pink. I guess it's to tie in with the cards/logo colours as well.

Hitorijime My Hero Volume 1 Review

Picked this up yesterday! I really enjoyed the anime back when it aired (having one of my favourite VA's in the cast really made the difference...), so I'm intrigued to see what the manga does differently and what happens beyond the anime. I'm glad Kodansha are giving it such great treatment...

The Gaming News Thread (for news that doesn't need a thread)

Sounds like some of the team who worked on localising the previous games will be working with NIS, so hopefully it will work out okay.

Why The Rising of the Shield Hero's Anime Is Better Than the Original Light Novel

It's where I bought the first volume actually! Looks like the print editions are largely out of print for the earlier volumes, so I'll probably pick up some more from Bookwalker and just continue collect the series digitally going forward. I do think context is very important here and as...

Why The Rising of the Shield Hero's Anime Is Better Than the Original Light Novel

With 25 episodes I'm assuming the anime is going to get quite far, so I'm assuming the arc you're referencing is even further in? It's interesting to hear that the light novel diverges from the web novel, although I guess that's not unusual either. It sounds like the author liked dabbling in...

Why The Rising of the Shield Hero's Anime Is Better Than the Original Light Novel

That's totally fair and I think anyone who dislikes those tropes are right in giving this one a miss because they definitely won't like the content. I'm not sure I'd agree that it's a shame to see Kinema pick this up for adaption though. The series is popular in Japan with 3.3 million copies in...

Why The Rising of the Shield Hero's Anime Is Better Than the Original Light Novel

It's so nice to see some nice and thoughtful replies to this topic, I kinda assumed the worst given how the mention of Shield Hero goes over elsewhere lol. Thank you both! In regards to the spoiler: It will be interesting to see what they do in that regard because like you say they clearly...

Why The Rising of the Shield Hero's Anime Is Better Than the Original Light Novel

The Rising of the Shield Hero's introduction into the world of anime has had a rocky start – but how does it compare to the original material? Continue reading...

What manga are you reading now?

The Quintessential Quintuplets volume 1 Flying Witch volume 4 Konosuba volume 7 (light novel) Umaru volume 4 Haikyu!! volume 30 Missions of Love volume 3 The Rising of the Shield Hero volume 1 (light novel) - was 50% off on Bookwalker and wanted to see how the book compared to the anime.

Seven Seas Licenses The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese, Arifureta and More!

After enjoying Orange and Dreamin' Sun I'll definitely be picking up Become You. Not only do I like the work of that mangaka, but a story about a musician always ticks my boxes. The isekai fan in me certainly can't turn a blind eye to Reincarnated as a Sword either, so I'm sure that one will...

The End Is Not the End with Seven Seas’ License of NEON GENESIS EVANGELION: ANIMA Light Novels

Not a lot that excites me in this batch. I'm curious to see how the creator of The Girl from the Other Side handles a BL, so I might pick up The Wize Wize Beats of the Wizarding Wizdoms (that name is way too long....). Definitely going to give The Brave-Tuber a shot too, just to see if it can...

What did you RECEIVE today? PHOTOS EDITION!

A friend of mine restores old fountain pens and she helped me find one I liked the look of for myself and fixed it up. It's an old Sheaffer Snorkel. I'm hoping that now I'll do more note taking when doing my reviews and such and since I've been learning Japanese I wanted something that was a bit...

The Quintessential Quintuplets Volume 1 Review

Overall, The Quintessential Quintuplets is an okay entry in the romcom genre. It’s perhaps outshone by VIZ Media’s recent debut of We Never Learn but, nevertheless, if you like this genre I think The Quintessential Quintuplets is worth checking out at some point - even if it’s not right now...

I think I'll wait to start Vesperia until I finish Yo-kai Watch 3, as I'm almost at the end of that. Glad to have it and my book arrive though~

Dragon Half Omnibus Volume 1 Review

Dragon Half was an enjoyable read, despite me having no real incentive to continue reading it beyond this release. While this style of comedy isn’t for me, I think those who like classic comedy manga will really enjoy Seven Seas’ release. Continue reading...

    [Overseas] Anime News & Announcements

The general assumption has been that a blu-ray release has been bottlenecked by the dub being produced, so hopefully now that has happened we’ll see one happen pretty soon.

What did you RECEIVE today? PHOTOS EDITION!

My late Christmas present from @Teapot arrived today! Looking forward to a rewatch now that I’ve seen more of Okada’s work, and it’s probably going to work better the second time around anyway.

What manga are you reading now?

The sequel is called Durarara!! SH and focuses on Aoba and the adult characters (from what I hear, anyway) and is at 4 volumes atm. It's sadly not licensed in English yet. Hopefully when Yen finish the original series they'll pick it up, only two volumes to go! :3
