What did you BUY today?

Stage 4 of Operation PlayStation 3 Haul has commenced. This will be split into parts like the previous stage but for good reason, as I am still debating on what imports to sort out (and also waiting to see if the rate changes).

Drakengard 3 - VideoGamesPlus ~ CAN$29.99
I feared that I would had lost my chances with this title. The third instalment in the bizarre Drakengard franchise that later spawned a spin-off series NieR had gathered my attention ever since Square Enix planned to localise it. However the Europeans were screwed over so only Japan, Asia and North America got retail copies - granted it had been cheap for ages until I decided to collect PS3 games again. It was only until now that I discovered the game was back in stock on the Canadian retailer site for a reasonable price. Note that the game is flawed technical wise (graphics aren't great, frame rate is weak) but the story and music is worth visiting.

Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes - VideoGamesPlus ~ CAN$24.99
In the previous haul I picked up the import HD collection for Sengoku Basara. I started playing it and I was quite surprised by how import friendly it is, it's basically Dynasty Warriors in Japan from Capcom. So I noticed copies were still lurking around for the English version of Sengoku Basara 3, known as Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes in the west. The UK copies I believe weren't in the right price range so I figured I go for the US version as I do want to pick a second title to fill the Worldwide shipping offer.

Just to recap, here's the first four stages.

Stage 1 [41st-45th]:
Catherine
Killer is Dead
Shadows of the Damned
Under Defeat HD
Zone of the Enders HD Collection

Stage 2 [46th-50th]:

Phantom Breaker: Extra [JP Import]
Shin Koihime Musou: Otome Taisen Sangokushi Engi [JP Import]
Shining Resonance [JP Import]

Stage 3 [51st-55th]:

Sengoku Basara HD Collection [JP Import]
Tales of Xillia 2

Stage 4 [56th-??th]:

Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes

Stage 4 of Operation PlayStation 3 Haul continues with another Japan only import. I originally planned to get two as I usually do but I decided to focus on one for the time being.

Wangan Midnight - Solaris Japan ~ ¥3204
Wangan Midnight is a racing game based on the manga of the same name released in the 90s era, and developed and published by Genki. You could say this title is somewhat Initial D's rival. The PS3 title is another arcade style racing game with a story mode based on scenes from the manga's storyline. I was aware of this title for quite a while and it only brought my attention in recent weeks when I did some research on it. The game was released in 2007, around the same time that Initial D: Extreme Stage got released and is now one of the more rarer Japanese PS3 games to date, so I decided to opt for a pre-owned copy as it was half the asking price and it was something that I don't think is worth £40+. Much like Initial D: Extreme Stage and Yakuza Kenzan, this game's original release did use the old PlayStation 3 banner so I opted for the PS3 the Best! edition instead.

A set of the first six Druuna volumes from a market stall in France for €40. Hopefully I won't be shot for importing them, though knowing my luck I will have someone inspect my luggage in front of me.

I didn't buy the Totally Spies BD that was also there, because for some reason that would have felt more embarrassing.

How are you travelling?

I used to do voluntary work as a Tour Guide for European Festivals and I don't recall my bags ever being search when travelling via Ferry, Eurotunnel or Coach from France, they were only inspected when I went through an Airport as the foil lid of my instant noodles set the alarm off.

Air. While I'd love to drive down and loathe airport security with every fibre of my being, when Ryanair tickets can be had for between about £17-£35 quid each way but petrol and a ferry/Eurotunnel would cost well over £200 it's a bit of a no-brainer for me (I'm also pretty far south and learned when travelling in Canada years ago that I don't really want to be on a coach for any longer than about four hours in a 24 hour period).

To be fair, airport security haven't given me any crap for a while. But I do always see them giving other people crap unnecessarily and that's enough to sour me on the experience. As is standing in the inevetabley long and slow moving queue.

That's completely understandable. Thankfully I live approximately 30 minutes from Kings Cross, so I can hop on the Eurotunnel for about £60 return and that often includes unlimited train journeys in that country.

I know exactly what you mean. I've made the journey to Holland a few times via National Express and it's not something I'd want to do again anytime soon. At least on tour, the atmosphere was more comfortable and the coaches that we booked felt as if they were made for rockstars, whereas the National Express coaches felt like something we used on school trips.

What parts of Canada did you visit? My family are from Toronto.

Thankfully I've not had any problem with Airport Security, just received the odd joke about my piercings setting off the alarms or the odd comment about my 6" platforms. I always fly at unsociable hours so I've never dealt with a long and / or slow moving queue.

But no need to worry, I'm sure there won't be any uncomfortable situations with your return trip.

Not really into anime apparel and the likes but I had to buy this official Patlabor Shinohara Heavy Industries Cap. Not huge on headear (so see what I did there?) but sometimes you have a bad hair day, you know?

Ordered the last To love ru art book I'm missing, harem gold.

To be honest I'm not even a big fan of TLR, but the art is just godly..

(Also pre ordered another art book from a certain LN series with on going anime, classroom of elite, and the latest megumi nendoroid from saekano.. but I didn't pay them yet hence not exactly bought today)

Sorry for the delay in replying, I was in fact travelling and both wi-fi and time have been in short supply.

I travelled across Canada from Toronto to Vancouver too many moons ago to think about without depressing myself, but also sadly before I had a driving licence. Beautiful country, massive and diverse, relatively cheap and with very few and generally friendly people. Probably one of my happiest memories. Maybe once I have a degree I can think about revisiting/emigrating. Northern Ontario and BC were definately my favourite parts. Trees forever and little Twin Peaks-esque towns. I remember going to a cafe in a little town and they came round with a coffee pot and kept refilling my cup and it didn't cost anything. Though maybe Starbucks has taken over by now.

The queue for security heading out at Leeds-Bradford was horrid even at 6am, worse than it ever used to be at Stansted - but Ryanair stopped flying from there to the local airport I used in France so I can't go via that route any more. Though next time I might look at going via Dublin rather than having to repeat that experience again.

It probably will be okay but I suffer from a track record of uncomfortable or embarassing situations having a way of finding me, so knowing my luck some attractive young security officer will probably go through my porno comics in front of me...

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Season Pass
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun vol. 8.

Also a bunch of Zelda amiibo NFC cards from some seller in Hong Kong, because **** you Nintendo and your locking cool content behind scarcely available children's toys.

CDJapan, I had some points that I got from previous purchases that I used towards it. The cap seems to be OOS right now but stock is being replenished in September I think.
