And, what? You don't hear the same seiyuu's in your Japanese dubbed stuff?

I will chuck Johnny Yong Bosch into the mix though..

I guess I'll be the first to say "who?" I'll agree JYB gets around, but I do think he's really good, though most of the dubs he's in also feature lots of voices I don't like so I don't actually hear him that often as I opt for sub.

Actually she has not been in some of the shows you have listed above. The shows marked in bold below are the ones she has definitely been in.

If you are really sick of her then here's a List of the voice acting roles she has done, so you know what shows to avoid. :p

when the **** did Bamboo Blade get dubbed?

and who on earth is this? Half the Anime on this list i have either a) not seen or b) not seen the english dub

I kinda feel this way about Chris Patton.

I mean, he's REALLY very good at what he does. But he seems to be in every single dubbed anime I'm watching right now!

http://www.axelmusic.com/productDetails/704400098413

Axel Music list it as having # 5.1 Dolby Digital (English) and 2.0 Dolby Digital (Japanese). It is released by Funimation who usually do dub/sub releases.

As for who this is, unless I am mistaken it is Monica Rial who currently works for Funimation but who used to work for ADV.

In Bamboo Blade she voices Reimi Odajima

Who even is this? Oh it's a dub voice actor...

One day you'll look back at yourself and realise what a child you look when you make non-contributory posts like this. Positive contribution, interesting or amusing comment, or silence please boy. Sarcasm about how you hate dubs in a thread about a dub voice actress is just trolling.

I'm going to guess that the Japanese have a wider range of voice actors as they seem to take that aspect of anime more seriously (did I read they had dedicated VA courses?).

devilrules, I don't know if you're talking about Monica Rial's acting or the sheer volume of stuff she appears in (or both), but I can only comment on her work by saying I was happy with her role as Haruka in Rahxephon. According to that MAL list she's voiced more characters than anyone else mentioned above...

Personally, I tend not to notice whose voice I'm hearing in anime unless it's either really good or annoys me. Maybe that'll change once I watch more anime in general if it is indeed a limited talent pool.

I dunno Miyano Mamoru and Jun Fukuyama get around a lot. As does Aya Hirano and Megumi Hayabashira (sp). That said they;re all great actors (though Aya I did NOT like as Misa. Misa's supposed to be annoying yes, but she sounded exactly like Haruhi... but I watched DN dubbed anyways)

it's just her voice that does me in at the end of the day. her high pitch voice just grates on my nerves after a while. maybe i will switch to the japanese voice track from now on!

To be fair i like her voice in those shows. They could do a lot worse for VAs as well, i mean have you ever heard the dub for GaoGaiGar? It was almost like they didn't even do an audtion for the parts.

I liked her in Kurau. I was unsure at first (especially of her portrayal of the young Kurau, which I gather is what more of her work is like) but when I realised the character did require a greater degree of vulnerability to her voice than I was expecting, she fitted perfectly. I can't imagine anyone else doing that voice now, I even prefer her to the Japanese VA.

As for the other shows she's acted in which I've seen... Noir I was pretty non-plussed (but then Kirika doesn't say much anyway) and I didn't watch the dubs of Azumanga or Excel Saga. I couldn't f*cking stand them. But not, it has to be said, due to Ms. Rial's presence.

I initially was all for this 'its more of a respected area of work' thing that gets flung around, but when it comes down to it, Japan have there own big stars who get their voice in everything - the same as America. There's always people wanting to break into the industry, be it America or Japan. It's not a problem of there's never being not enough people wanting to voice act, its just the bigger stars get the job. It's also quite rude to say to them that they don't take their work seriously. I've never come across a voice actor who didn't care for his work, they are all fans of the stuff. There's probably more actors in Japan who don't care for anime than there are in America.

And... if you don't know the language, you can easily be fooled by who's who - unless you really really listen in (and still its hard). I only seem to notice when they have a real distinct voice, like Wakamoto.

i just wish that manga had good subtittles on their discs instead of the crappy ones we have now. i would be able to listen to the japanese voice track and read the proper subtittles .
