Partly out of an interest in discovering new anime sites and partly for a walk down memory lane, it would be interesting to know which anime sites other than AUN that forum members regularly check up on.

These days AUN is pretty much the only site that I regularly view (outside of ANN and AODVD). But back in the day (we are talking about 2 years ago I suppose) I would regularly check http://www.point-blank.cc (now in a coma), http://www.anime-stop.com (long gone), http://www.omnirai.net (always coming and going) http://www.xarnet.com (still around to some extenet)and http://www.theanimesource.com (RIP). I think that, fair enough, they were my friends sites for the most part and the majority were never up to much in the important areas, but I did enjoy what they had to offer and often visited out of a sense of loyalty and love of web design rather than love of anime.

From what I can tell the online anime community has changed greatly in recent times and I feel a little out of touch with it all. So what smaller fan sites do you often visit and why?

I did visit anime-ni with some regularity as well actually. I still like the blog style of the site and ease of use quite a lot. I had entirely forgotten about the existance of Neo Mag after buying the first two issues and deciding it wasn't up to much. Any idea how well the magazine has been doing since launch?

As you would expect, I'm following many anime and film websites to keep myself up to date with all the latest news.

In terms of UK sites, I regularly visit:

UK Anime - http://www.ukanime.com/
eyeonanime - http://www.eyeonanime.co.uk/
aNIme - http://www.anime-ni.co.uk/
Anime Boredom - http://www.animeboredom.co.uk/
Otaku News - http://www.otakunews.com/
UK Anime Net - http://www.uk-anime.net/

When it's updated, I enjoy reading the editorial-style at aNIme and UK Anime Net is pleasant in a friendly community-driven kind of way (though their reviews are often off the mark). I've been a part of gaming scenes in the past where webmasters all hang out in the same places and display obvious rivalries- there is no such thing between the UK sites, we all seem to get along quite well without really knowing much about each other, but this lack of competition can lead to complacency too. As such the UK scene rarely changes, oddly a lot of us opened during 2003-04 (including the now defunct Orient Express / DVD Anime) and nothing has really changed since then. So worryingly, that means no new sites have appeared for a few years!

These days I'm also really enjoying being a part of the anime blog scene, and I often read BlogSuki, Anime Nano and AnimeBlogger.Net to keep up to date with the hourly revolutions. In terms of writing, it feels a lot more personal and rewarding when contributing and receiving comments on your anime blog. It's a great way to continue to develop writing techniques; you learn a lot more when it's yourself personally caught in the spoitlight.

I did like Orient-Express/DVD Anime ^_^ You wouldn't happen to keep in touch with Hugh from the site would you? If so could you PM me his email address?
