US anime recomendation needed.

On the road again soon and heading off to the States and you know what this means, cheap anime. Heading off to San Francisco for a cousins wedding, and have a few day extra kicking round the city, so going to hit Japan town, and pick up some anime and related stuff. Question is what to get. So will throw it open to the floor
Now Favourite series are Rahxephon, Macross Saga, and movies are Patlabour 1& 2, Cowboy Bebop Movie, and Armitage 3. Like a strong well put together plot, not spoon feeding, but not so open no one really knows what’s going on (cough, cough Eva, cough). Believable characters, sense of humour, little romance (as long as it’s not saccharine). Giant death robots and slick animation help, but not essential, also helps if it is in a convenient box set.
 
You can get Zeta Gundam in the states. Whilst it is certainly dated animation wise, it ticks just about every other box going. There is a box-set, but that may be hard to get and it is expensive. On the other hand, Bandai recently released it as individual volumes of 10 episodes per shot, at the same price as a normal DVD, which is comparatively very affordable. Look into the shorter OAVs while you're there (Gundam 0080, 0083 and 08TH MS Team)
 
Berserk. Lord of the Rings coloured with shades of grey and red. Philosophical. Action packed. Emotional. Epic. Brilliant.

Get Berserk, simple as that. It's such a shame it's never made it to the UK so many from here have never looked into it. It's simply one of the best anime ever made.
 
Would love to go to the USA again would love to go visit Jay and Bob's Secret Stash, director Kevins Smiths own comic book store. Oh and I mean the original one in New Jersey not the new LA one

Suspected as much, thing was it was from reputable store. Rest are definitely legit. Fortunatly its at least a decent bootleg.
