Adult Swim UK - no anime included

Our forum user Ramen89 has noticed that Adult Swim will begin (airing in the UK) on Bravo at midnight on the 7th of July. The block will air every night for two hours, broadcasting such animated comedies as Robot Chicken, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sealab, The Brak Show and Space Ghost Coast to Coast.

Unfortunately no anime is included in the line-up; as we expected, Adult Swim has been sold to Bravo as a brand and the above cartoons were all created for the Adult Swim label; anime is a third party production and would have to be brought in by Bravo seperately.

Some of those titles seem familiar. Didn't they crop up on the old CNX channel? It seems, to be brutally frank, that Adult Swim on Bravo = the dregs of CNX.

Adult Swim used to air on CNX and that's where they come from.

No real surprise there. Bravo could draft in some anime. Depends whether they have seen its relative popularity on Rapture (or Jetix after Naruto airs) and want a piece of the action or not.

The fact that that is merely the starting line up doesn't rule out any question of anime at a later date and neither does Adult Swim mean there must be anime. As ever it is a case of trawling the channels and picking up the odd hidden gem here and there :).

hey as an animation fan and not just an anime fan i still cant wait. plus there are some funny shows in that line-up.

It will be interesting to see if the mainly American pop culture humour in Robot Chicken will go over well in the UK

Good grief, everyone's been quoting that around me recently. WTH is Robot Chicken, and why exactly does it keep referrencing "Captain Planet"?

In any case, I've long since given up on any really significant anime coming to TV. I'm happy enough with DVD's and fansubs of Zipang.

I used to like Sealab when it had Captain Murphey. After he died and they wrote in a new captain I just kinda lost interest. Aqua Teen has it's moments too.

Didn't you know? our world is in peral (sp?) Gaia, the spirit of the earth can no long stand its destruction, so she has sent 5 magic rings to 5 special children, with with their powers combind he is captain planet!!

The question is, are these 5 rings related to the ones from middle earth?

(if you don't understand what we're on about your really missing some good chats on IRC :p)

not a shot at u grant or anything just something unclear in the rules, we're not aloud to post links to fansubs cause they allow illegal veiwing of animes, wouldn't the same go for you tube?

i couldnt 100% agree with you more.
i have long lost interest in Anime airing on UK TV. its just that most of the TV channels like Toonami Adult swim and all, in the US, get very high ratings mostly due to the wide variety of anime being shown on it. so if it works there, why shouldnt it work here?
oh well, for me DVD's and Fansubs FTW

That sounds like the worst lineup of shows since the Hallmark Channel last ran a Quincy/Columbo/Perry Mason weekend.

I've seen the majority of those shows and I really didn't like them...they tried way too hard to be quirky and random for my liking.
