Those following the progress of Rapture TV (which has promised to bring anime to UK TV) will be interested to read of their recent publicised concerns about Sky TV delaying their return to the UK air-waves. Originally they had planned to relauch Rapture in June but it's now looking more like a January '06 return. These worries have led them into lodging a complaint with TV regulator Ofcom, claiming the "unreasonable" delay is costing them up to £1,000 a day.

David Henry, Managing Director of Rapture TV, is quoted as saying "To leave one broadcaster in charge of an EPG is asking for trouble. It's not an open platform. Sky controls who gets on it, where and how - that's not an open platform. It's glaringly obvious to me that not everybody is being treated the same."

Strange, yesterday on the Rapture TV boards one of thier employees said the channel would be coming back before Xmas this year but the date was still under wraps.

December 25th is very close to January 2006 Wink

Strange to think that such a simple looking thing as the Sky programme guide could delay things so much (well, perhaps not all that strange from a cynical point of view). Still, we can only wait and see how it turns out.

If anything, this at least shows us that Rapture TV are serious about trying to succeed. It's slightly worring that SKY already seem to have a "grudge" against them but then I'm sure this will all (read: I really hope!) eventually turn out for the good.

definitely. i'd rather they spent time over getting things ready, rather than rushing it and suffering teething problems. here's hoping sky give them a fighting chance to get anime on UK TV at last.

The thing Im worried about is if they'll get enough exposure, I mean if anime was coming on to a relatively big channel then it wouldnt matter, but this is a free to air channel that probably only just has the right amount of money to show these anime programs, let alone advertise about them!

I can imagine their annoyance, i mean concidering the countless utterly rubbish channels Sky air, i mean how many people actually watch half of them, i'm often surprised at the randomness of some of them when i have a good flick through.
Lets just hope we don't have to wait to long and it works out for them in the end

Yeah but anime is going to be the only decent thing on Rapture, Its one of those Overload style channels I think, just pointless program after pointless program.

The games program could be interesting. It seems like they are producing a lot of these shows "in house" and so I hope they will at least be unique.

If you don't want to watch Rapture's music go to the other various mainstream channels or something, while your waiting for the anime. Wink

Rapture has great music in my opinion and was fairly up to date with the new releases. Though I'll see what anime it has as well - I'll be watching or rather - listening to the music primarily! Razz
