Really interesting ANNCast on Blu-ray authoring

This week Justin Sevakis looks at how anime gets onto Blu-ray, and it's well worth a listen to hear just how hard it actually is.

And he explains where that pain in the arse digital banding comes from... I'm going to have to stop blaming the distros on that one.

Pretty damn interesting, it's a lot more involved than you'd think.

Quite interesting to listen to. I knew that Bluray authoring was a major pain in the ass, but I didn't realise they were than user unfriendly to work with.
It was also interesting to hear that BD25s are just under $1 per disc, whilst BD50s are $3/4 each. Guess that explains why Funi always uses 1 BD50+25. Gotta cut costs somewhere considering their releases are so cheap.
I'm also assuming that part of the reason BDs are more expensive to produce is due to having to pay for the extra manpower involved compared to DVDs.

It was also pretty nice to hear that Justin should have more work coming from Anime Limited, especially considering I generally regard NISA releases as having the best video quality out of the main US distributors (Excluding Aniplex), followed by Viz whom he also authors discs for.

Finally finished listening. Was rather interesting.

The guy doing the interview and asking the questions got on my nerves though. The guy was constantly using the word "like".
