According to an update on ANN, George Lucas has been quoted as saying "I also look at this as a way to get my foot into anime" in regards to an animation facility he has set up in Singapore. Lucas is also have said to have commented on "[T]he amazing artistic talents in the Asian community". The comments by him were taken from a CNN Article.

I think this is quite interesting. With all his money and blatent love of Japanese culture (the Jedi are samurai and I seem to remember him citing Akira Kurosawa for one of the Star Wars films), I'm hoping something good can come from Lucas' involvement with anime. He seems quite passionate about pushing the standards upwards.

I think any possitive press from famous people such as George Lucas is great, people are of course influenced by the famous so this could lead to some new interest

Except of course for the fact that the last 3 movies were utter crap.

Although... if Genndy Tartakovsky was leading something up again...

I'm sure that if George Lucas goes into anime, it'll be based on Star Wars, or at least terribly similar to it. Still, a figure like that who enjoys anime, once again, could help boost interest.

This will only be good if he has least involvement with it as possible, George Lucas is a hideous director and an awfull writer, hopefully the rumours of Kevin Smith writing the Star Wars TV Show are true.

Only good can come from this I hope...
Allthough Lucus isnt the best director hes known all round, so this will help people know about uber cool anime!

Anybody here watch the 'Clone Wars' micro series?

Honestly, in 5 minutes they pack more style and character than George Lucas manages with a whole movie.

I was really dissapointed when I saw General Grievous in Episode III. I just knew he wouldn't be as cool as in the cartoon series, but in the movie he just plain sucked.

Trust me, if you like Star Wars (and / or Samurai Jack) and haven't seen Clone Wars, go get it, it's very good. Plus nothing beats a cartoon Samuel L. Jackson taking on an entire droid army by himself. BARE HANDED.

Lucas has been rumoured to be looking into anime for a while actually

he is still favorite to make the Dragonball Z movie if it ever appears

I remember last time I went to the USA they were showing Clone Wars all the time before the hallowed Adult Swin slots, and by the end of two snow-filled weeks, I grew to like Clone Wars' battle scenes despite not being a huge Star Wars fan.

I'd say that Clone Wars was a better installment in the franchise than the last few films, despite the artwork not being to my taste. Although that mau have been the constant bombardment of it I recieved.

No, I feel the same way.

I've come to the conclusion that I actually like the franchise and the setting, I just don't like the movies. :?

If Lucas does pull some kind of Anime off I think it will be great I will be looking forward to it. As everyone ahs been saying I think that the short Clone Wars series really rocks and the way it has been animated is really in the of Samurai Jack.

Well, they were both directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, which is why they're stylistically similar.
