Oh deary me. Perhaps anime will wrench away video games' current title of "most likely to corrupt our kids"? I'd love to see mothers standing outside anime retailers with billboards protesting the evils of anime with little crossed out pictures of Totoro and Pikachu.....

I won't even begin to list the reasons why that article is wrong, it just isn't worth the time.

Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh is hardly messing with kids, I mean, the worst to come out of it is kids getting their cards/pokémon stolen but once that happens they straighten up and make sure it NEVER happens again.

However, DBZ [and Naruto] I agree with, as with Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokémon it's just cards and imaginery creatures fighting/dueling one another, while DBZ [and Naruto] brings up play fighting [and bad childhood acting] which leads to epic violence on the playground and at the end of the day it doesn't end well.

[True story, all happened to me.]

Unless something is done to reverse this trend, we're going to be looking at millions of high school dropouts who don't see the point in going to college unless it teaches them to capture magic crystals.

Like all the Japanese kids where the shows originated, which the author clearly based his/her claims on.

Just laugh this off, seriously. I don't want any "HOW RIDICULOUS" rants. These people don't seserve attention.

You know it doesn't seem like a normal week unless the Americans are on a witch-hunt and looking for some band or people or medium to blame for problems within there degrading society

Quoted for truth.

America is stupid, scared of everything and in a constant state of denial. No other country would take Jack Tompson seriously.

I find ignorant, stupid people and their ill-informed opinions to be laugh-out-loud amusing on so many levels. Does that make me a bad person?

Hahahahaha.. what a nob. One day - if it hasn't happened already - he is so going to get beaten up. I swear, not even one of those comments were in his defense.

Oh, I beg to differ. Think of all the impressionable parents, teacher and politicans etc, who might be reading articles like that.

If I remember correctly after the Columbine tragedy the finger was pointed at everything as being responsible except for guns being easily available in the country.

Yep i love how theres not a single comment supporting his argument, and this is the internet! Where no matter how hard you try you'll find SOMEONE to disagree with you. People who say "racism is bad" get more opposition than that guy! Laughing

As long as a Jack Thompson-like figure doesn't come out of a hole and try to take this further we're okay

I think Tompson himself probably will get around to anime sooner or later. That's if he isn't disbarred.
