I don't agree with most of these choices. I'm glad that Madoka Magica got recognised. Manga winning is predictable. I don't agree with Blue Exorcist and Naruto winning their awards. My favourite manga publisher of the year, Seven Seas, was not even a nomination if I remember rightly.

I registered purely because I had to agree with you completely!

These awards were more like “which of our advertisers do you prefer”.

Don't think Manga have had much competition recently. Don't see that changing much. Think they'll release more than anyone else this year too.

Just out of interest though who would you have picked for the awards.

Concerning just anime and manga my choices would be:

Best Anime - Clannad / Clannad After Story
Best Franchise - One Piece
Best Manga - Ouran High School Host Club (final volume came out in 2012)
Best Anime Movie - Arrietty
Best Manga Distributor - Seven Seas
Best Anime Distributor - Manga Entertainment (As you say, there's very little choice, other than MVM.)

Some good picks, trouble is this is the general public voting so I doubt Clannad as good as it is stood a chance, surprising that a sub only release won tbh, gives hope for future sub only shows.

Best Franchise could only be between Naruto and Bleach really, given they haven't given us One Piece yet.

I too am annoyed that Seven Seas were overlooked on best Manga Distributor, they had some companies i'd never heard of yet skip Seven Seas?

My picks would've been thus.

Anime: Madoka
Manga: Natsume's Book of Friends
Anime movie: Arriety
Anime distributer: MVM. Despite the credit card details fiasco, they have more I'm interested in than Manga and their Deal of the Week is awesome.
Manga distributor: Vertical, although I am also annoyed that Seven Seas wasn't on the list when Sweatdrop was...
Franchise: Blue Exorcist. I'm glad to see sub only releases here.

Only one of these I agree with is Neo's choice, which is odd I usually can't bring myself to agree with anything they write normally.

Dont agree with much of that list, but i guess the lack of choices listed on the form filled in didn't help, some obvious better choices did not get included.

The neo award and distributor ones are probbly the only ones i agree with.

Nintendo is probably the only winner on that list I agree with. Especially as frankly, the last half of Blue Exorcist was crap Satan falling for a human girl? What the heck?.

Yen Press has to be my favourite manga publisher, with Seven Seas in second.

Not like there isn't a precedent for that. Satan is considered one of the "sons of God" after all.

I'm not remotely religious as you know, but the mythology can be quite interesting (also, it can be satisfying to expose the fact that some religious people don't actually know their own beliefs).

I'm guessing this only applies to UK anime releases from last year, hence the poor choice of winners in the anime related categories. This seems more like a popularity contest than a 'Best' award.
Also Manga as the best Anime Distributor? Why am I not surprised, more like pretty much the only anime distributor.
